Outreach is at the heart of what First Christian does. We believe in loving God by loving neighbor.

Quilting at FCC
We have two quilting ministries at First Christian Church:
- The first group, collects scrap material and makes “cuddle” quilts for Emergency Infant Services. Over the years, this faithful group of sewer’s has made hundreds of quilts.
- The second quilting ministry at FCC Tulsa is called Prayers & Squares. Prayers & Squares is an interfaith outreach organization that combines the gift of prayer with the gift of a hand-tied quilt. The purpose of Prayers & Squares is not to make and distribute quilts, but to promote prayer through the use of quilts. Our motto is: “It’s not about the quilt; it’s all about the prayers.” Each Knot Represents a Prayer The idea behind these prayer quilts is simple. A heavy thread is used to take stitches through the quilt layers, and the ends are left free to be tied with a square knot. During worship we lift up individuals in need of prayer and invite people to tie a knot and say a prayer during communion or after worship for that special person in need of prayer who then receives the finished quilt. If you would like to request a quilt please contact the church office. For more information about Prayers and Squares check their national website at www.prayerquilt.org Donations of material is always accepted.
Child Development Center
The First Christian Church Child Development Center (CDC) opened its doors September 8, 1987, with the primary purpose of providing quality childcare to those families living and working in the downtown Tulsa and surrounding areas. The CDC provides full time care to children ranging from infants to full day Kindergarten. The CDC is dedicated to providing a wholesome atmosphere to meet the needs for emotional, physical, and mental development for all children. Part of the CDC budget is provided by grant, which is made possible through gifts to FCC’s Outreach Budget. Also, FCC provides Vacation Bible school to students every summer and a monthly chapel program. For more information about the CDC please check their website at www.growingkidz.org
These are just some of the many outreach opportunities that we as First Christian Church take part in as we strive to continue making a difference in the heart of Tulsa.
